Still no letter for me.

Since I’m traveling in 4 weeks, I called USCIS to ask what are my options.

The agent said that she doesn’t know when I will receive the letter but she will try to schedule me for an appointment to get a stamp in my passport that will be valid as an extension.

she said I don’t need an extension letter with that when traveling outside of the US.

Has anyone got some experience when traveling?

thank you!

You don't need extension letter to leave the US. But if your GC is expired, you won't be allowed on the plane back to the US without expired GC and extension letter.

If you manage to get stamp (which is only valid for a year) then you can travel with that.

Also try filing Non-Delivery of notice form - https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDNForm.do?sroPageType=ndn&entryPoint=init

This won't get your extension letter before the trip, but at least you'll receive it with validity of 4 years instead of asking for stamps every year.

You mentioned that you have an online account.  If you check under documents, do you have your receipt notice there?  This is what it states on our receipt notice.

We have extended the validity period on your Form I-551, Permanent Resident Card, (also known as a Green Card) for 48 months from the date of expiration. During this extension, you are authorized to work and travel. This notice, presented with your expired Permanent Resident Card, is evidence of your status and employment authorization. (This extension and authorization for employment and travel does not apply to you if your conditional permanent resident status has been terminated.)

You cannot just print out the notice from online account  to use to board the plane. The original letter is printed on watermarked protected paper. Even though some user reported success using it to board the planes, I know how strict airlines can be. I had all original documents and I still had delay getting on the plane. I also read on VJ how people with valid docs were denied boarding. Using printout is very risky, most likely won't be allowed to board the plane.

Thank you both for coming back to me.
My package was received and it states that they sent me the notice (which would not be the extension letter I know) but I didn’t receive anything at all.

My Credit Card was charged a few days after the package was delivered and someone uploaded my package online including all the scanned pages.

however because my return date to the US is 3 days after my GC expires, I was getting nervous, therefore I called them.

thank you for letting me know about the stamp and its expiry date, as I was not aware.

still waiting for someone to call me since the 72 hrs hasn’t passed.

i will keep you updated.

i know the processing times are crazy and i don’t expect them to give me the new GC, I’m always more concerned about leaving the country since I do travel often

Actually this notice is the extension letter. What happened to it? Was it delivered to wrong address?

Did you move after filing I-751?

I did not receive one.

when I brought this to agent’s attention, she said they never sent one.

I don’t have anything under Notices online (0 of 0) but my case status is:

On July 26, 2024, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number IOE0xxxxxx, and sent you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. The notice describes how we will process your case.

i haven’t moved since starting the process so i guess they never sent the receipt?

Either they didn't send it or USPS lost it. Just get the stamp and request replacement for your notice using the link I shared.

So funny thing, the agent just called me and after explaining her the situation, she said they will send me the temporary green card until I get my extension letter…

They don't know a thing about immigration... There is no temporary GC.

I always was a special case….

This is what I received from the email:

I guess she referred to a temporary GC but it’s a stamp?

well. I shall see.

i honestly don’t know why the agent on the phone didn’t just resend the receipt notice
