Approved I-601 and sent to US Consulate in Montreal. Timeline? Process ?

So my I-601 was approved on July 3rd but I have yet to hear anything from the Montreal consulate. Does anyone know of the timeline after this ? and the process ? Any help will be appreciated, just anxious to get back to my family and home.

Only other case I could find on the forum, looks like they waited about 4.5 months but that was two years ago, might give you an idea at least - https://www.visajourney.com/profile/417030-bog-can/

How long did it take for your approval on I-601? When did you file the waiver? Is it Vaccine waiver or other reasons?

Took almost 4 years - not for vaccine

Oh wow. My mother's date is Sep 2023....dont know when will that be approved then.

our i601 was approved in June 2024, took 64 days to get email from Montreal for interview. Attended interview Oct 8. Verbally approved. Passport kept at consulate, awaiting passport return. Good luck, you'll be scheduled soon

Thanks mepelma1 - I finally got a request for a new medical which is submitted same week, but nothing on interview date - its been 4 months since waiver approval. No one emails back form the consulate email 😢 but waiting patiently - thank you for the reply though, much appreciated and best of luck in yoru endeavors

@ALPINA_RACER Thank you for sharing. Do you have an update? I am in a similar situation, 601 approved 6 weeks after you (mid-August), still waiting to hear anything from the Montreal consulate.

Still waiting - approved in july it is december now and no news 😢

My husband was approved for his I-601 too and it was sent by our immigration attorney over to Montreal Consulate. It's been 6 months since it was received on June 12, 2024. We still have not heard anything either. It's frustrating when you have to wait an unknown amount of time. When speaking to our attorney they said that we are still within the normal processing time and not to be surprised if it takes up to even a year before hearing anything. I try not to be discouraged by that but, truth be told, I am. I want to be united with my husband. We've been married for over 5 years now. Anyway, if you don't mind, if you hear anything please keep us all updated. It's really helpful hearing about other people's journey. Hope you hear something soon. :)

So I finally had an interview after 5 months but I am still waiting to hear something any day now. I will keep you updated because I know how difficult and hard it is to now know 🥲

Hello, here is my experience. We were approved for the I-601 waiver on August 16th, 2024, and had confirmation (from a chat with Emma) that the waiver was sent to the Montreal consulate on August 19th. On December 9th, which is 115 days later, we went to the Congressman office in the city where my husband lives and asked if he could make a request directly to Montreal. The employee told us it wouldn't do anything and was reluctant but sent a request anyway. Two days later, the congressman forwarded us the email he received from the Consulate Correspondence Unit with our instructions (go for new medical and send new police check, photos and passport). So in our case, it seems that it actually did something to send that request. Now we're not sure if I will have to go to a second interview (first interview was in September 2022) but I'll be sending my package through courier on January 7th after my medical and the wait will start again.
