Could someone please tell me what keeps the case active? I paid the fees on August 18 2023, the next step is to upload financial information, affidavit, and DS-260. Do I have to do all these before August 18 to keep the case open? Or is there any way to extend the time without doing the next steps? My mom hasnt been able to leave the country so we are trying to prolong her coming here as much as we can.

You don't have to upload it all - one piece at a time spread over a long time will keep your case open. But you do have to do something before Aug 18.

Thank you! When I check the status, it says "Action required: Complete Form DS-260". Do you know if it will be ok if I upload the financial information instead before August 18 and leave Ds-260 for later? Or does it have to be DS-260 that I need to upload first since thats what its asking?
