They are so picky about expidited request.  I have a hard lump in one of my breast. They denied me for an expidited request. I was told that I would qualify for one if I get a mammogram and it proves cancerous.

The problem is, I have no family left (they are all diseased) other than my husband and I am too petrified to go for a mammogram due the possibility of it being cancer. There is a history of breast cancer in my family.

I need my husband here with me for emotional support in the event that I find out it is cancer. I have no other support other than him.

I don't have the vacation time saved up to take off work. Plus neither him nor I have the money for a plane ticket for me to go there.

Presumably he is eligible to use the VWP?

Picky and picky, it makes absolute sense that they need to see some kind of proof that it IS actually a reason for an expedite. Otherwise everyone could use it as an excuse to get an expedite without actually having anything wrong with them, no proof needed.

With that said, go get yourself tested. The sooner the better, even if it means doing it alone. Waiting will only make it worse if it is indeed something bad.

They don't want proof of the knot, they only want proof if it is in fact cancer.

I even offered to go to their office to let them feel it for themselves.

Please do not wait. Yes it's absolutely terrifying, however knowing is always better than not knowing. There's a good chance it's not cancer, and then you would be relieved. If it is cancer, the sooner you know the better. My mom has had 2 breast cancers 10 years apart, and she's still there living her best life! The reason why: when she found a lump she went straight to her doctor and started diagnostic exams right away. There is nothing positive that can come from waiting to have a mammogram, the longer you wait the longer you are scared.

Tell your doctor about your fears, they could prescribe medication to take the night before and day of the mammogram for anxiety (you wouldn't be able to drive, plan on getting a taxi or Uber/Lyft). Can you go with a friend? If not, like @Lemonslice said, there are many breast cancer support groups that may offer to have a volunteer accompany you.

I'd have to probably take a lyft. Most of my friends live about an hour away from me or don't have cars.

I do appreciate the kind words. I'm scared because what if it is cancer?  I'd have to start treatment asap and he'd still be in Germany while I went through it alone.

Some basic information on expedites

It is up to you to show that you have a case, this situation would require medical records and I would think additional supporting information.

An expedite may speed up the process but is not quick.

I have seen cases with what seemed to have severe medical issues refused. It is free so no harm trying.

It would seem in this case much quicker, much easier for him to visit.
