I submitted my N-400 application on August 20th, under the 5-year rule, and I’m still waiting for an update and hoping to hear something soon! 😕 (New York)

I filled online on Aug 17th, also under the 5y rule, and the case has been under review since then. Brooklyn office here.

Interview scheduled for October 29th.

Had my interview today and application recommended for approval. 🎉 Have to wait until my 3 year anniversary before formally approved and appointed a date for naturalisation ceremony.

Overall once in interview it was all smooth. Interview was scheduled for 10:50 so arrived just after 10:20 so check in. Around 11:15 someone came and called my name, but only to let me know the person who was meant to interview me was running behind and was still in with someone else. Around 11:45 I was called again to do my interview, but it was with someone else not the person I was originally meant to interview with. It was the first time they had looked at my application so was reading through everything, ended up being a combo interview for both I-751 and N-400.

Guy was chatty and pleasant. Civic questions asked where: 1. Who is the governor of your state? 2. What is Benjamin Franklin famous for? 3. If the president can no longer perform his duties, who takes over? 4. Name 1 war during the 1800s? 5. What is the political party of the current president? 6. What is the highest court system in the US?

My estimate is in 4 days and I’m still waiting for an interview lol

I don't think that estimate time is any good, mine says 3 days and I am waiting for an interview as well. When I asked the live Agent on Emma, they said I should not worry about that estimated time at all as it is not correct

Lol at agent admitting that 😃

As one user speculated on VJ, the most likely reason this estimate exists is to reduce calls to USCIS with people asking about progress on their cases.

Really nobody knows how much exactly each case will take. There's too many variables and human factor involved.

Hi, have you filed under 3 yr or 5 yr rule?

Hi all again,

I have a quick question about my upcoming interview: I have gotten my GC through marriage that unfortunately ended, we got divorced 6 months ago. Now, I have applied under 5 year rule on my own. Is it true that oftentimes people are being asked to provide the marriage evidence - taxes, mortgages, bills etc?

You're more likely going to show divorce decree.

You may get asked about marriage if USCIS sees some red flags.
