Do any of you have experience with a foreign bachelor's and getting a job in the US? My fiance is an electrical engineer in Mexico, speaks English fluently (does so in his job here) and has a few years of post-graduate work experience at a German company based in Mexico. He graduated from a Jesuit university based in Mexico, and well-respected in the city in which we live. How might I figure out how that could transfer to him getting a professional job in his field in the US once he gets his EAD?

(I hope this isn't a no-no, but I'm going to post this on the Mexico/Latin America forum too for specific cases with Mexico- but I hope to hear from folks in general)

Most 4-year degrees easily translate into U.S. undegraduate degrees. It's not like education in other countries is worse than in the U.S., and most progressive employers know it well. If your fiance speaks good English and is an electrical engineer, he should have no problems.

wes.org can help you out there. They will look at his degree and the course work he has done for it and "translate" it into American standards. A bachelors should be recognized.
