Hey y'all,

Hoping someone can help me: I'm trying to get in with a primary care provider (as I have a pre-existing health condition that I'm on medication for) and so far everywhere I've been has said I need a government issued ID. Which I won't have until I get my green card... in like, 9 months.

Can anyone advise as to how to get in with a primary care provider in the meantime?

Government issued ID can also mean a passport. Do they not take those?

Tried my visa, and they wouldn't accept it coz it's "expired". I don't know that the US would accept a UK passport as "government ID".

I would think they would. It’s valid. Which city, state are you in? It sounds like there isn’t much of an immigrant community

That's the thing, they don't specify; they just say "government form of ID" which I assumed meant US government. I've posed the question though and will see what they say.

It's just insane because I'm on my husband's insurance but can't find a (removed) doctor that will see me!!!

Never mind, they apparently can accept my UK passport and driver's license. FFS. I wish they would make this clearer!!!

A Global Entry is a valid picture ID.

UK nationals are eligible.

Your passport, DL anything will do. But more specifically, you could go to the DMV and get a US ID. Do you have an SSN yet, or your EAD?

Sure they will.   They need official picture ID, and that is exactly what a passport is.

There are widespread issues in the US right now with getting in to see even primary care physicians.   Many are not accepting new patients.  A lot of health care clinicians have left health care altogether.

Depends on your insurance.  I'm able to log into my insurance, specify what kind of doctor I want and see who's accepting patients.  It's been pretty decent because I can also see how others have "rated" them.

It actually does not say a US Government issued id because it's meant to be any government issued id.  There are millions of travelers to the US from untold countries that need medical care and never will have a US government issued id.  Just go with your passport and it will be fine.

Dont read into it. A govt ID is one that is issued by a government.
