Hey everyone,

We just realized we had confused the confirmation number for the A number printed on DS-160. It has the same number of characters and starts with AA.

We submitted all of the paperwork for the AOS with the incorrect A-number. It will be obvious to them that it is incorrect as the one we had filled in has both numbers and letters.

I assume the application will be rejected, but is there a chance it won't?

Is there anything we can do in the meantime to speed up the process, or do we have to wait for the rejection?

For reference, it has been 21 days since we mailed in the application, and we have not received anything yet, which seems a bit odd.

Thanks for the help!

Lately it takes 1.5 - 2 months for USCIS to open packet and create a case.

Really? Where are you seeing that? From these timelines, it seems like a few days, or am I misinterpreting the filing date? https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?cfl=0&op1=3&op2=d&op3=&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,9,10,11&op6=&op8=All&xfr=&vtype=0&interview=

It's an "IF ANY" question. It won't be rejected.

No.

Not odd one bit.

You are only eligible to place an email enquiry to the Lockbox once 30 days has passed since the shipment was RECEIVED not sent however it can take much longer.

Please see the USCIS Contact Us website for details.

Joining your VJ filing month tread will also be helpful to see current Noa1 times at your Lockbox.

Just read threads here:

https://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/131-adjustment-of-status-case-filing-and-progress-reports/

3-4 times a week somebody posts about not getting their receipt a month or more after filing.

No.

Would it be worth assuming it will be rejected and sending in the entire package now, or do I need to wait for the rejection? I have been trying to call but am struggling to get past the AI.

Thanks for letting me know.

Something else came to mind. Do they charge the card number I submitted with it before doing anything? Will I end up having to pay twice?

Would it be worth doing something like canceling the credit card to prevent it from happening?

Thanks!

No they won’t charge you twice. If they reject the package, they will not charge you. I wouldn’t cancel the credit card as it’s very much possible that they won’t reject it.

The first question on I-485 is the A-number, and it does not say "if any" so I assume it will get rejected 😕

It IS an "IF ANY" question. It could not NOT be an "IF ANY" question because not everyone who files I485 has an A number when filing. K2s for example, do not have A numbers.

It won't be rejected for that reason.

Plain as day, A Numbers do not start with double letters and when it doesn't matter if you filled it or not it cannot be rejected for that reason.

They will look it up themselves after they cuss you for your error. No biggie.
