I would like to know exactly where you are getting information from regarding the gender of this athlete?

After doing a lot of reading the facts currently seem to be as follows:

 

Khelif was born a female with female genitalia. They were not born a man with male genitalia. They were not born intersex and assigned genitalia after birth. They are not trans. They are not even a man intentionally pretending to be a woman to cheat.

No disorder or complicated genetic issue has been uncovered yet, though it could certainly be possible, if not likely.

Khelif has been boxing for quite some time, they have lost numerous matches to other women born with female genitalia. 

A problem has arisen, such has happened in rare cases with other athletes that had been assigned genitalia at birth, born intersex, or not born intersex but have rare genetic issues. That issue is higher than what is defined as normal - testosterone. Biological women, produce testosterone. A large majority of women with disorders such as PCOS and others can absolutely have high testosterone, which is an unfortunate hallmark of such disease - in more severe cases of PCOS women can take on 'male characteristics' such as hirsutism. Similarly men can have a range of disorders or disease that cause them to have poor testosterone production of which the effects are too numerous to mention.

One of the biggest issues recently about an athlete with complex medical history was Semenya. While still a teenager, she was forced to take birth control and was ordered to submit to numerous tests and eventually a medical procedure, shots, and more. All in an effort to control her testosterone levels, which were through no fault of her own. These 'treatments' affected her physical and mental well-being in a similar way numerous advocates complain about young adults being subjected to HRT as they 'transition'. I suspect that Khelif and other similar athletes will end up enduring the same.

 

Intersex is a complicated condition, and condition is not even the right word for it perhaps. They are people that are born uniquely and through no fault of their own. Many do not even know they have it. They have their own talents, hopes, and dreams. They do not deserve to be spoken about as if they are disgusting. Everyone wants the line between men and women to be clear cut - but god seems to make complicated exceptions to our human rules. How then should these "men" and "women" compete? Should they be denied because of something that isn't their fault? Should they be forced into dangerous therapies so that people can feel more "comfortable"? I don't think that is the answer, nor is exclusion, nor is some of the really terrible comments I've seen tossed around.
