An MP for the radical-left France Unbowed party has sparked outrage after saying Israeli athletes are not welcome at the Paris Olympics and calling for protests against their presence.

 

Citing Israel’s war in Gaza, Thomas Portes told a pro-Palestinian gathering in Paris on Saturday: “We are just a few days away from an international event to be held in Paris, the Olympic Games. And I’m here to say that no, the Israeli delegation is not welcome in Paris. Israeli athletes are not welcome at the Olympic Games in Paris. We have to use this deadline and all the levers we have to mobilise.”

I normally have little interest in the Ozempics.

While off-cooling after mowing the lawn, I had to watch some.

It was women's beach volleyball, the only sport worth watching*.

     *everyone gets excited about women's gymnastics, but I'm sick of seeing 

       "exuberant displays by yet another pixie-ish sprite"

Even the blonde volleyballers weren't that good-looking.

The Czech chicks (Czicks?) weren't even in bikinis.  Why watch it, then?

Worthless sport.

Things Are (Not) Going Swimmingly!  Paris Cancels Triathlon Training Due to Dirty Seine

 

One of the biggest flaws -- from people who have been to and know Paris -- is the city is not designed to host a massive event like the Olympics, especially not in the modern era with security concerns.

The Seine -- Paris' major riverway -- is meant to be the stage for the swimming portion of the triathalon.

Any river in any major city is not a body of water you want to voluntarily swim in, and now athletes can't train because the water is just too dirty:  [...]

During a men's soccer Group D match at the Paris Summer Olympic Games, a shocking scene of antisemitism broke out when Team Israel's men's soccer team was viciously targeted by radical pro-Palestine protesters.
