philippines CFO weird question

we already passed our CFO but had to go through 4 time going there with different info they ask for..... but after getting it done... i just thought of something

 

-could i have just told the CFO interviewer that my US citizen husband has never been married before???   i mean they have 0 information on him.. the only info they know about him is what i tell them..... so if i just would have said he has never been married,.. presented his certificate of capacity to marry from his state.... they would have never known and i would have not had to go through so much hassle?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Are you CR1/IR1?

 

Is your question about whether you could have provided more info about your US citizen husband to the CFO interviewer? 

Sure. Why not? But you have to make sure that the information you provide will help your case.

 

CFO is technically to vet or protect Filipino citizens from human trafficking or abusive relationships. However, I don't think the process is standardized and the experience can vary greatly depending on the specific interviewers, so there is no set rule on what information can help specific cases.

The advice that was provided to us was to be firm, and consistent and to not be intimidated by the interviewer.

My observation is that if the counselor somehow decides to make things difficult for a particular applicant then they can totally do that.  They CAN make up rules as they go along. Your guess is as good as anyone's about what ticked them off.  The best course of action to put on a big smile and just play along with whatever the ask for and get it over with.  It's no use trying to second guess them.

  • April 26, 2021: NOA2, I-130s Approved
  • April 30, 2021: NVC Received
  • May 01, 2021: Pay AOS and IV Bills
  • May 06, 2021: Submit AOS, Financial Docs and DS-260s
  • May 14, 2021: Submit Civil Docs for Stepdaughter
  • May 21, 2021: Submit Civil Docs for Wife
  • June 25, 2021: NVC review for Stepdaughter, RFE submit additional Doc
  • July 08, 2021: Wife Documentarily Qualified by NVC
  • August 31, 2021: Stepdaughter Documentarily Qualified by NVC
  • September 15, 2021: Received Interview Date from NVC, October 05, 2021
  • September 22, 2021: Passed physicals at Saint Luke's Extension Clinic
  • October 05, 2021: Interview at US Embassy Manila. Verbally approved by US Consul. Positive interview experience.
  • October 05, 2021: CEAC status changed to "Issued"
  • October 07, 2021: Passports tracking for delivery on 2GO Courier website
  • October 08, 2021: Passports with visas delivered.  "Visas on hand"
  • October 08, 2021: Paid Immigrant Fee
  • October 12, 2021: Temporary CFO Certificates Received
  • October 26, 2021 POE arrival at LAX
  • November 02, 2021 Social Security Cards arrive in mail
  • January 31, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Is Being Produced"
  • February 04, 2022: USCIS Status changed to "Card Was Mailed To Me"
  • February 07, 2022: Green cards received.

With the CFO you give them exactly what they ask for. Nothing more and nothing less. As @top_secret said you do that with a smile.

No what I’m asking is… when they asked me “how was you husbands ex marriage was he married before?””

 

I could have just said “no I’m his first wife”.  They would have never known … like they have 0 info on him

I would not lie, especially to immigration agents.

 

You never know if they can ask you something that they already know the answer to just to see if you are being truthful.
