traveling outside of US while pending ROC

After filing ROC, to travel outside US and re-enter, other than expired GC, I just need either I797 (NOA) or extension letter?

How long does it take to receive either I797 or extension letter?

What if you don't receive either one, is there any other way to travel outside of US?

All you need is the your expired GC and extension letter (I797) to re-enter.  Make a few copies of the letter as sometimes airline employees are unfamiliar with it and ask to keep it and you need the original watermarked version to present to the CBP officer.  It is also a good idea to have a copy of the CBP carrier guide with you.  As to receiving it, it can take about 2-4 weeks to receive it.

Good Luck!

I-797, NOA, NOA1, Notice of Action, Extension Letter, Receipt - it's all the same document people call different names.

You'll need it + valid passport (typically 6 months or more plus 2 or more empty pages) + Green Card (original) + Extension Letter (original, valid)
