Travelling to Mexico with expired conditional green card + extension notice on a Schengen passport

I filed my I751 packet last week as my conditional green card is expiring 9/28. My wife and I have a vacation planned and booked in Mexico between 10/2-10/9. I've been seeing a lot of different information on people travelling with expired green cards and their extension notice to enter Mexico without a visa.

My question is: Since I hold a Schengen passport (Hungarian passport) there is no visa required for tourism. Am I correct in understanding that the expired green card + extension notice is not relevant in my case as I am gaining visa free entry through my valid, unexpired passport rather than from being an LPR? The green card and the extension notice would only need to be presented when entering the US. Is this a correct understanding?
