I remember seeing something on here before about Name hits and that possibly delaying the NOA2. Who gets these? What are they?

I was denied at the border twice so will I be getting a name hit? Is this the reason my case is taking so long?

I think it could be a good possibility. I was denied twice at the border too, and I'm fairly certain that's why my I-130 was in detailed review.

The name hit usually happens during the FBI check for the AOS application.

You were probably denied entry into the US because of your frequent trips. As long as you can provide proof of ties to Canada, such as lease/mortgage documents and current pay stubs, you probably won't have any problems. The US border officers just want to make sure you are intending to return to Canada after your visit to the U.S.

Basically if your name is in the system for whatever reason good or bad, or if your name matches another in the system, there will be a hit. Most name hits are false and are cleared up fairly quickly however some take longer to show that they are not connected or not relevant. Security checks are done at all levels and they have a range of data systems they can use depending on the circumstances. You would be in the system if they made note of it when you were denied entry.

I was denied entry at POE once, too, and it took us over nine months to get our NOA2! I also had to go to the consulate once before the interview took place to have my fingerprints taken.

When I was denied entry, they also took my fingerprints and I'm fairly certain that's why we had a hit and the background check took forever! Since neither of us ever had trouble with the law I can't imagine what else it could have been.

Other than that, it had no negative impact on our visa process. Just be honest and you should be fine!

Thanks everyone I sure hope it doesn't take 9 months cuz that would royally suck. I plan on being nothing but honest. The last thing I need is to get in more trouble.

sorry to point this out but in your timeline it says you sent the k1 in year 2004 but your timeline typed in signature says 2006. Could you please amend the right one please it will throw the statistics on this forum. Thank you

Yes, they took my fingerprints too. So yep, I'm def in the system and am gonna get looked over real good. *sigh*
