Translated Documents

Hello Folks:

 

Just a question.  My Fiance' and I are working on a K-1 Visa.  Does anyone know what original documents she will need to get translated when we apply for it?

Assuming your fiancée is interviewing in Kyiv, she would need to translate any document that's not in English or Ukrainian. In general, embassies accept official documents in English or the native language of the country they're in.

 

Edit: She would get instructions on this as soon as the application has arrived at the embassy (also called 'Packet 3').

Yes, I know documents need to be translated, otherwise I would not have asked this question.  I said what documents need to be translated and brought to the embassy?

Well that's the point, assuming she is in Ukrain and a Ukrainian citizen..there is no need for translation.

If the situation is different, then there is some need for translation, but we don't know that as you haven't shared that information.

 

As to which documents, that really depends on the embassy's Packet 3 information, which is a little harder to find. Maybe another member of the forum has been through the process in Kyiv can help you out with that.

Without knowing where she is from, where she has lived, where her documents are from, and where she will interview, no one will be able to answer your question.  Best of luck.

The birth certificate will likely need to be translated.

Im going to keep this generic.

 

Translation is needed for the following Documents:

 

Birthcertificate, if not in Consulate Native Language

Divorce or Death certificate from Former spouse , if applicable and if not in Consulate Native Language

Police Report, of ALL countries where the applicant has lived after age 16, for longer than 6 months. They then all need to be translated to either english or consulate native language.

Military Report, if applicable and if not in consulate native language

Criminal record/ Court records, if applicable and if not in condsulate native language.

 

Also: ALL Evidence an applicant would like to submit which is not in English or Consulate Native language, needs to be translated as well.
