We had no problems with insurance, either with my employer, or the private policy that we got while I was unemployed.

Try Aetna, we liked it

If you and your fiancee plan to get married soon, since you mentioned filing for AOS, as soon as you get married the insurance company should not have any problems with putting him on there.

They put Andre on my insurance as soon as we married. They used his Alien number in place of a social security number until he got a SSN.

I would say, otherwise, though, once a person has their green card, they should be eligible for coverage.
