Hi all

Next year my partner (USA) and I (UK) intend on starting the K-1 visa process.

I want to submit a religious waiver / i-601 waiver regarding vaccines (specifically COVID-19) but I am very confused.

As I understand it, you will be denied access to the USA at your medical due to being "unvaccinated" - does this mean that the usual K-1 visa process does not go ahead and you have to wait for the i-601 to be processed in your own country? I'm so confused, this is a minefield and extremely confusing.

Any help/experiences would be appreciated.

Kind of but not quite. K-1 (and only K-1 visa) applicants can refuse any and all vaccines and say they're going to handle them in the US as part of AOS. That gets them to the US. For AOS, that's when you'd also file I-601 waiver for vaccines.

When you say ‘specifically Covid-19’, does that mean others vaccines have been administered? If so a waiver is very unlikely to be granted.

Actually, if there has been some time since last vaccine (any type) - couple years, he can have a reasonable shot at getting the waiver. People learn new things on how the vaccines are made and it can be connected to religious belief.

I personally don't believe COVID shot should've ever been added to the list as it doesn't prevent anything and only causes harm but the way CDC works is insane these days.

Thank you, this makes sense.

Who knows what the requirements will be in 2027? Who knows how long the processing time will be then.

And for that matter the waiver process.

Currently it costs about a Grand plus of course your Legal fees.

I am sort of interested which religion in the UK has an assume with vaccinations.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I filed for a waiver based on religious convictions and I am from The Netherlands where most people are either atheists, protestants or Catholics, none of those groups have any issues with vaccines. That doesn't mean that every single person in that country belongs or identifies with those religious groups. I don't belong to any type of church or religion, yet I have a strong religious case for my vaccine waiver. More and more people these days are non denominational Christians who live by the teachings in the Bible instead of the traditions of men. The waiver does not require you to be a part of some religious group at all.
