Hello Everyone,

Is this a valid reason for an expedite request at the NVC level? Can anyone think of any details or supporting evidence I should provide to strengthen my expedite request?

My wife and I recently had a child in Feb of 2024. However, my wife has been struggling with depression and she is unable to receive assistance from her family members so I the petitioner had to go to my wife's country to provide assistance. My wife has been provided a prescription for postnatal depression and I have to assist with childcare. Our child is a US citizen and has received his CRBA certificate and passport. I have to return to the States for a work conference but my son will need to continue to receive care. My company has invested significant resources into this event and I must be there. I can provide my wife's medical records, and my itinery for my business trip. I will be unable to care for my child during this business trip but my wife needs assistance as well. My son and I are both US citizens. If it helps my wifes case will be going to the US embassy in Lagos Nigeria.

Doubt it, as the hardship is not on behalf of a USC (wife).   It’s free to try though.

Petitioner is the husband.

Yes, that was my point.   The wife, who has the hardship, is not the USC

No, that would not be grounds for an expidited request.

I submitted an expidited request back in March as I have an unknown mass in my breast. The tier 1 officer sent me an email stating that I do meet the minimum requirements for an expidited request, however it is now July and an officer still has not even been assigned to look my expidited request.  I stayed on USCIS for 2 months before getting frustrated enough just to give up. Nothing but a headache that got me absolutely nowhere.

Just because you qualify or meet the requirements for the request, doesn't mean that they will bother to look at it.

I was hoping my son who is a USC would be the person identified with a hardship. Since his primary caregiver needs assistance.

Yes, that is certainly one of the considerations.  So, why do you not just hire a caregiver to be there in your absence?   It is also a hardship to all of you, if you lose your job because of this.  Lots to consider, including other solutions.

It is free to apply, I agree the case is weak.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
