Because I don't feel like another big debate right now. But to put it in a nutshell it's her positions. To me her ideas on health care, child care, the economy and taxes are 180 deg out from what I believe in.

Not to mention the recent immigration bill which she supported.

Bush's stand on immigration hasn't changed Gary's overall opinion of him.

Yes it did. I said right here that I thought Bush was a dumbazz for wanting it. You don't listen very well.

So, if Bush could run again, you definitely wouldn't vote him, right?

If he was saying he still wanted the immigration bill, no I wouldn't.

ETA Unless of course he was running against Hillary.

Interesting. I'm curious how you decide on a candidate if one issue alone is enough for you to not vote for a candidate?

There are a few "deal killers" for me. Amnesty is one. Universal health care is another. Cut and run is yet one more.

That's my point. Once you start going down your check list, there's not going to be any candidate left.

you must understand that Hillary is hated more by the right than Bush is hated by the left. I can't think of a better "get out the vote" campaign than a Hillary for pres ticket. I would rather see ANYONE for prez than Hillary. If she is the Dem candidate be prepared for any civility to go out the window. You will see more mud directed against Clinton than ever before in history. You will also see a record rep turn out in November. The right will not allow her to run and ruin this country.

Where *DO* these 'facts' come from?

Really, Gary, I'm asking honestly. Cuz I can name plenty of places/sites/people who hate Bush, A LOT.

here is a site you'll love.....

Sorry Dev, it is true. I know you like her but the hatred from the right (and a good number of those on the left) is very real. I want to bury the hatchet with you, it's nothing personal.

God Gary, why can't you get into your head, your opinions ARE NOT FACT!!!!!!!!! You do NOT speak for America so stop saying you do.

Sure there are. A conservative candidate will satisfy my "checklist".

Which one would that be, Gary?

none? (That are in the current race)

There are a few "deal killers" for me. Amnesty is one. Universal health care is another. Cut and run is yet one more.

Guiliani:

-Supports abortion rights.

-Supports providing a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants, but not ahead of those in the system legally.

------------

Romney:

-Opposes abortion rights except in cases of rape, incest, and to protect the life of the mother. Supported abortion rights as a 1994 Senate candidate.

-Opposes Bush-backed guest worker plan, saying it goes too far in expanding future immigration levels. Opposes allowing illegal immigrants to gain legal status apart from existing procedures available to all non-citizens. Opposes in-state tuition breaks for illegal immigrants.

-----------

McCain:

-Opposes abortion rights except in cases of rape, incest or to protect the life of the mother.

-Co-sponsored Bush-backed immigration reform legislation, which would have increased funding and improved border security technology, improved enforcement of existing laws, and provided a legal path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants.

-Voted against 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cut laws, but later voted in favor of extending tax cuts through 2010.

Looks like they all have one bad (a.k.a. liberal/21st century) issue! What will you DO now?

psssssssst:

And the leading Republican presidential candidate is ... none of the above.

Though Rudy Giuliani leads GOP candidates, more Republican poll respondents said they didn't favor any of the candidates.

The latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that nearly a quarter of Republicans are unwilling to back top-tier hopefuls Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson, John McCain or Mitt Romney, and no one candidate has emerged as the clear front-runner among Christian evangelicals.

Such dissatisfaction underscores the volatility of the 2008 GOP nomination fight.

In sharp contrast, the Democratic race remains static, with Hillary Clinton holding a sizable lead over Barack Obama. The New York senator, who is white, also outpaces her Illinois counterpart, who is black, among black and Hispanic Democrats, according to a combined sample of two months of polls.

A half year before voting begins, the survey shows the White House race is far more wide open on the Republican side than on the Democratic. The uneven enthusiasm about the fields also is reflected in fundraising in which Democrats outraised Republicans $80 million to $50 million from April through June, continuing a trend from the year's first three months.

"Democrats are reasonably comfortable with the range of choices. The Democratic attitude is that three or four of these guys would be fine," David Redlawsk, a University of Iowa political scientist. "The Republicans don't have that; particularly among the conservatives there's a real split. They just don't see candidates who reflect their interests and who they also view as viable."

God Gary, why can't you get into your head, your opinions ARE NOT FACT!!!!!!!!! You do NOT speak for America so stop saying you do.

All he is saying is that America won't elect Hillary into the White House.

While that's not a fact (yet), I am of the opinion that you'll see in due time that he's right.

Take me, for example. I am more likely to vote Democrat because I generally lean that way but would not if it was Hillary on their ticket. I'd rather support a moderate Republican for President then support Hillary. And you better believe that I am not alone.

But would a conservative Republican support a moderate Republican? Bob Dole was more conservative than Guiliani and McCain, but still unacceptable to a large enough segment of very conservative Republican voters to splinter off to a third party candidate (Buchanan). There is just no way a third party candidate wouldn't emerge if Guiliani is on the ticket - even Ann Coulter has said as much.

I don't remember Gary saying anything about the abortion rights issue being a dealbreaker for him.

Are you joking?

Abortion is like the #2 issue for conservative Reps!
