Hello group,

My mother went for her IR5 (Mother of US Citizen) interview on Jan 8th, 2024, and was refused due to some missing documents, which we promptly sent the embassy by January 24th, 2024. The visa status was updated on January 29th and is still undergoing administrative processing. This occurred in the US Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria. How long is the typical wait time for administrative processing and is there any way to speed up the process? The embassy currently has her passport and no update since January. Also, can you contact the embassy for an update on the timeline?

Affidavit of support from my husband. I thought mine alone was sufficient since I am a medical doctor, but they also requested that of my husband. Also, the embassy staff rejected the birth certificate my mother submitted and ordered she get a new one from the National Population Center (NPC). Both documents were submitted alongside her passport in January.
