This raises some interesting questions, for those not aware there has not been conscription for a very long time, well before my time and I am old.

 

Just some comments and thoughts.

 

The British Army is at its lowest level for centuries, it has more horses than tanks. Around twice as many.

 

The Navy has around 2 Admirals for each warship.

 

There has to be some interesting stats about the RAF.

 

There will inevitably comments that the border is not defended never mind Ukraine etc.

 

I think I read that 75% of 18 to 25 year olds are medically unfit to serve.

 

I remember in my early years at school we covered Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, I never really understood how it could happen, now I do.

Probably both. Admirals used to serve at sea with Fleets, RN would need a lot of advanced notice to put together one fleet, Falklands Task Force, forget it.

I am putting this here as I found this quite interesting.  I am somewhat a fan of Dr. Who, but do not follow it religiously.  The show has gone downhill since Peter Capaldi left.  Btw, there is also a nice analysis regarding the JD Vance speech here.  We always here the marketing adage "sex sells", I guess they can add another one "go woke, go broke".

But the kind of robotic grandstanding we saw from Tennant is precisely what most of us now expect from actors. Perhaps anticipating yet another exhibition of progressive inanities from our thespians, many didn’t bother to tune into the BAFTAs in the first place. According to the Mirror, more people watched a repeat of Antiques Roadshow on BBC One on Sunday evening than they did the BAFTAs just before it in the schedule.

 

Meanwhile, the BBC’s Doctor Who is also losing its allure. ‘Doctor Who facing axe as lead star Ncuti Gatwa “quits” amid woeful rating and fans’ fury at woke storylines’, announced the Sun earlier this week. This will hardly surprise older fans of a show that’s been transformed into a didactic vehicle for hyper-liberal dogma.

I haven’t been back to Blighty for over 6 years. Things sure looked very different there then and yes, I did notice something about the shows on the telly but couldn’t put my finger on it. Some of those shows were aligning with an agenda I now recognize today as questionable. 
 

On a side note, I watched Dr Who when Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee were leading. I cannot imagine the players of today🧐
