I received a notification today about an interview scheduled for March 28th. However, I have already booked plans to be out of the country from March 22nd to April 2nd. Should I consider rescheduling the interview date?

I wouldn’t reschedule the interview but that’s just me.

We were told the oath ceremony would be scheduled pretty quickly after the N400 interview - like 3-4 weeks. It's been 5 weeks and we haven't even received the oath letter. Just a random letter approving the I751, which took a month to send for some reason (which they already approved at the N400 interview).

TIMELINE:

CIS Office :Indianapolis IN

Date Filed : 2024-07-26

NOA Date : 2024-07-30

Interview Date : 2025-01-07

Approved : Yes

Got letter approving I751: 2025-02-05

(Now waiting on oath ceremony to be scheduled. No letter yet, as of 2/12.)

Online status still says 'in line for oath to be scheduled'. We cannot see any documents tab or add the case to our account, because we don't have the access code anymore (asked for a new one). So we have nothing to go on except the general online status checker... anyone else dealing with this? 😕

Also, how much time is usually between the date you get the letter and the ceremony itself? (How much notice do they give you)

It's not random. I-751 needs to be approved before N-400 can be approved. Any verbal approvals in the interview are not legal approvals. It might have taken some time to adjudicate case after interview. Also, it can take 4-8 weeks for any letters sent by USCIS to arrive. There's nothing random about that letter. You may even receive 10 year GC before your oath is scheduled.

hello I filed for n400 in October 2024, I have the receipt of notice on November 8th 2024 saying uscis is actively reviewing the case, its been almost 3.5 months (February 2025) and I haven't seen updates on the uscis website for my case interview, my field office is NYC, processing times for NYC are 7.5 months, can someone with experience share an idea of the estimated time for my journey on n400.  please let me know if this is normal

I’m in NYC too and applied 3 months before you and I’m still waiting for interview to be scheduled, don’t expect it anytime soon NYC office is very busy

thanks for your reply, does it mean that you are out of processing time in nyc office of 7.5 processing time?

I think 7.5 month is the processing time at NBC and not the date between you submitted and taking the oath. But I’m currently almost 200 days since submitting so not yet

I believe 7.5 months is the timeline between N-400 is received by USCIS and decision (approval or denial). Oath follows the positive decision and isn't included in timeline.

Oh I see, then I definitely will be out since I don’t even have an interview yet

submitted 7/31

interview was scheduled just now for 3/25 Federal Plaza NYC

does the NYC FO ever do same day oath given that my interview is at 10 am?

also, the estimated processing time of 7.5 or 8 months are pretty accurate for me for NYC, as between the day I submitted and the day the case gets a decision (interview date) is 1 week short of 8 months
