Field office is Indianapolis. Our attorney is telling us to wait. Everything online says to wait. Which I understand, but our entire life and plans are currently on hold due to this delay.

 

None of the cases I've read about in our area have taken this long (they all had like 4-6 weeks between interview and oath, whereas we don't even have a letter at almost 7 weeks). I am at a loss of what to do, and getting more concerned by the day.

Update: Letter was mailed today. Ceremony scheduled for mid-April. Another delay that was WAY longer than expected/than we were told. Glad it's at least scheduled.

N-400 can easily take a year. At least they used to. I'm thinking in terms of: any case that takes less than 12 months is fair processing time. Especially if there's underlying I-751 that's pending. Good luck and cograts on getting oath date!

Quick Update: My interview was today and I passed. Same day oath.

 

My interview was 8:50am at the Chatsworth office. Arrived around 8:30am. There was a free parking garage across the street. Checkin and security checks were a breeze since I wasn't too busy. It was a constant and steady flow. After security I had to go to another line (there were maybe two people in front of me) to checkin again and the officer was really nice.

 

I waited about 15 minutes before I got called for the interview. The whole interview was really quick and I only got asked for my interview notice, ID, green card, passports, and evidence of selective service. I think the officer was going to ask for more stuff until he saw that I was a LPR for more than 10 years. The officer only really looked at my green card. After the reading and writing and civics questions (I don't remember any of them since it was so quick) he went over maybe 3 questions from the application before looking into oath ceremony. I was in an out of the interview in 15 minutes. I did have to update photos for the naturalization certificate after the interview because my green card photo was taken ~10 years ago.

 

My oath was 11:30am right outside of the building. Sunny day and kind of hot. The officer at the oath ceremony was nice and congratulated everyone. I have to say the longest part of the process was probably the oath ceremony. The officer went over passports, voter registration, etc. It was really surreal but I'm glad the wait is over!

Sometimes it takes a day or two for the PDF notice to show up in documents so if the status just changed to "interview scheduled" you will probably get the date very soon.  If it goes a couple of week and you still don't have a date you can make an inquiry on "Ask Emma" live agent chat.
