More specifically,  about 11 days before the scheduled naturalization interview we "planned a trip" for 3 days after the naturalization interview.   Then we scheduled a Passport Agency appointment online for the morning after the naturalization interview.  We reckoned that if for any reason there wasn't a same day oath, well,  passport agency appointments and travel plans are easily cancelled. And since there was a same day oath.  Passports were immediate.

Great to know. I have an international trip scheduled 10 days after my oath ceremony so I'm going to try to do this as well. If you get the passport the same day - I think I should be good!

Hi everyone,
I first filed for naturalization in March but had to move states, which resulted in a denial due to the 90-day rule for local USCIS jurisdiction. I reapplied online on July 12, completed my biometrics on July 31, and have been waiting for an interview since September 14. My current field office is Baltimore. Is anyone else experiencing delays with N-400 processing there?

Three doesn't seem to be a delay in your case. N-400 typically takes around a year.

There were quicker adjudications related to upcoming elections. Now that this is behind, there's no rush to adjudicate N-400.

It was very easy for us. Online appointments are here. https://passportappointment.travel.state.gov/ You can log in and browse appointment availability without making any commitment or giving any identifying information other than an e-mail address and phone number for multifactor authentication.  You dont need to give a name or anything else to just browse appointments.  Just pick a travel date is the next two weeks.  For San Diego they were pretty much wide open.  I checked a few other cities and found generally good availability the places I looked.  We did make an anticipatory appointment well in advance of the actual naturalization interview though.

USCIS currently shows 7 months to complete the naturalization in Baltimore. The first time that I filed (this was the one that got denied due to me being a resident of Maryland for less than 90 days) my interview was scheduled within 2 months. Based on this timeline I was hoping that my interview would be scheduled by now.

The estimates are just estimates. My I-751 was estimated 7 months but ended up 20.5 months due to estimates shifting.

The elections are over, you can't have the same expected turnaround time. Plus you have a prior denial in your pocket which also doesn't speed things up.

@top_secret did you go to oath ceremony in SD 30min before your appt time like on your N-400 interview date? The oath ceremony notice doesn’t specify anything like the N-400 interview notice.

My oath ceremony is at 1pm in a few weeks and wondering what time I should arrive and what time I will be done (in case I can stop by Social Security Office to update my SSN).

My wife got a same day oath.  Which as far I can tell is fairly typical for San Diego   As far as arrival times my wife arrived about 30 minutes before her scheduled interview.  We were all let in immediately and security was fast.  Check-in at the third floor was quite slow.  Maybe almost an hour.  Interview on the 4th floor was maybe 30 minutes all in and oath on the 5th floor took maybe an hour.

Hi Ash, I literally have the same file date, same bio date and field office but I haven’t been scheduled for an interview yet. I do have a name change in the application and I have read that it takes a little bit longer for that type of application. Keep me updated on your journey please

Thank you for your response. My interview was towards the end of the day. I was finished around 3:30-4:00pm with my naturalization interview. I think that’s why I couldn’t do same day oath.

Hello everyone!
Yesterday I had my interview and I have passes writing reading and civics tests however the decision couldn’t be made. The officer told me I will get the RFE letter with the request to provide joint documents from my previous marriage.

The letter says I need to send original 1040s with signatures for the past 5 years (even though I have brought transcripts with me and uploaded it along with application online, but he didn’t take it, said I’d have to mail everything in)

My question is - these originals can only be obtained from IRS as a hard copy by mail? Because for that, I will have to submit specific form asking them to provide it to me and it will take 75+ days for them to mail it to me. My RFE letter says I only have until Dec 30th to provide these documents, without any right to extend this time. So with this being said - it looks like it’s impossible to send it to uscis in timely manner?! Very frustrating.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
