Just got my interview scheduled for Oct 31st.

Applied under the 5 years rule.

Did you get the letter or did you get a notification then you check the docs section of the online account?

hi! That is my point as well, I honestly don’t understand how it really works, if we still have to wait to complete 5yr what was the point of filling earlier, however I know people who filed after me, within 90days as well like myself and they have gotten their interview notices already.

To get the ball rolling. USCIS needs to get or reuse biometrics, need to do background checks, study your case, allocate interview time. They could be doing it in 90 day early filing window or after you meet 5 years of residence requirement. Isn't it obvious you get a chance to naturalize faster this way? They can naturalize you a week after you become eligible when filing in 90 day early window VS they would be just looking at your file if you file after 5 year mark.

I did get an email that an action have been taken on my case. And I log in and saw the Interview letter on the documents tab.

Yes, I get that, however some people get their interviews before 5 year mark, that’s very confusing because you can’t get naturalized before that point, or you can get the interview but not the oath ceremony? I’ve read stories when people used to get their interviews early and then get denied because “it wasn’t the time” 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can get interviewed before the 5 year anniversary and then your oath will be scheduled after the anniversary. Don’t sweat it, USCIS knows what they are doing

The denials are rare. A lot of the times field office doesn't offer same day oath, so no harm in getting in line for oath...

Without delving into politics, I 'think' that was somewhat common 4+ years ago and the actual examples you heard of may not be recent.

I think you're quoting @Elena V here not me. This can happen under any administration if an unexperienced IO is adjudicating the case.

 

There's also complexity when somebody gets denied in 90 day window for other reason (for example broke residence within the last 5 years but didn't wait long enough for it to be disregarded). People tend to focus on few things on their case but ignore other important bits when reporting it online. I wouldn't be surprised if IO gives a vague reason for denial like as "Didn't meet residency requirements" and people blame it on 90 days VS other issues in their case.

I wonder if I should also check my USCIS on Saturday or just keep it from Monday though Friday?

People got case updates on Saturdays including me, and even on federal holidays.

To me the greatest vaguary remains, the "3 years of marital union before applying" requirement.  I have seen a relative handful of cases denied for not meeting that particular requirement, despite the 90 day window, and many many more that were approved.  I have looked for the actual text of the law, rule or policy of the "90 Day rule" that would exactly apply to the "3 years of marital union" requirement and have not found an explanation to my full understanding so far.
