Travel between n400 approval and Oath ceremony

hello,

 

if your n400 is approved , are you allowed to travel out of the country and reenter with expired green card and 48 month extension letter like usual before you have the oath ceremony ? Do they take the green card at the oath ceremony or upon approval?

You do not surrender your  GC

 until your oath ceremony. 

 

Travel as usual using the letter and expired GC   You will be asked about any international  travel since the interview  at the sign in desk when you attend for your oath taking ceremony so just keep track of dates   Usual care you not be out for too long.

Perhaps if you're too close to not meeting physical presence criteria?

Otherwise people can generally travel no problem.

You can travel just fine, it's perfectly allowed. When you receive your oath ceremony letter, there is also a form that you fill out in regards to any changes between the interview and the oath ceremony. So you need to mention that you traveled, married/divorced, any traffic tickets etc that happened between those two dates.

I have a feeling this suggestion from the immigration officer is so that people are not inadvertently outside the country when they're due to at their oath ceremony since it may be difficult to reschedule it. Not because it's technically not allowed.
