Hi all,

I'm an American citizen sponsoring my Moroccan wife's CR-1 visa. We are an expedited case. My wife received a call on Jun 21, 2024 from someone at the US Consulate in Casablanca, Morocco. On the phone, they set up an interview with her for Jul 2, 2024. Her medical exam was scheduled 4 days prior to her interview, on June 28th. We received no official interview letter or email notice regarding this, and she was told that because the case was expedited we would not be going thru conventional means. Our account on ustraveldocs is also not updated to reflect the interview date.

Call from Consulate June 21 --> Medical Exam Jun 28th --> Interview July 2nd

This morning, my wife received a called from the medical facility where she did her medical exam and they asked her to come to the clinic to discuss her results. Her x-ray shows potential tuberculosis concerns. The doc put in a lab order for the sputum test which requires an 8 week window for final results. The doctor recommended her to visit a specialist. My wife visited a specialist earlier this afternoon and the specialist was skeptical about her having TB and re-did the x-rays and validated the imaging she got from the prior clinic. My wife is completely asymptomatic. Her specialist believes that the sputum test will not be beneficial because my wife does not feel any symptoms to even do a proper sputum test (doesn't have any phlegm to cough up). She also got her blood drawn and we will hear results on that on Wednesday (in 2 days) this week.

The assistant at the medical clinic where my wife did her medical exam on Jun 28th told her that her interview is cancelled. However, my wife did not receive any call from the consulate saying her interview is cancelled. My wife called the consulate and informed them that her medical exam required further testing and would not be complete (but did not mention sputum testing for TB) and the person who picked up told her she should show up to her appointment tomorrow and that because it is peak season, it will be difficult to get another appointment soon.

So my wife will be going to her interview tomorrow. We do not know if it is cancelled. I am skeptical about what's being communicated between the medical facility and the consulate. If the appointment is cancelled, my wife will go and perform the mandatory sputum test anyways. I don't know how they will get a real test done with her being asymptomatic, so we are relying on her specialist for the real evaluation. We don't know where to go from here if her appointment is cancelled due to there being no paper/email trail about her appointment in the first place. Is any familiar with this process?

Unfortunately this was not the case for us :(. My wife tried to attend the interview and she was told her name was not on the list for interviewees that day. She is going thru sputum testing and we will have to wait for medical clearance before she can interview again. We have not heard any updates from the embassy or next steps. I'm curious if she tests positive for TB if she can get scheduled for an interview 6 months out, as 4-6 months is usually how long it takes to get treated for TB.

She is seeing a specialist on the side, as per recommendation from the doctor at the medical facility. There, she got a CT and blood test done for TB. She will provide the report to the immigration doctor and go from there.

Good luck my friend.

I hope all works out at the end.
