Transferring a CR1 case

Hello everyone, My husband is American, and I am from Kenya. We filed our CR1 in February of this year and from the look of things, we could be looking at a wait time of up to three years to get an interview with the Nairobi embassy. This week, we have been discussing the possibility of transferring our case to the Bahamas or another country that has a digital nomad visa since we both work remotely.

My question is, has anyone here tried transferring their case, and how easy is that? Do y'all think it's worth trying? Also, has anyone here done their interview from the Bahamas, and if so, how is the wait time there?

Thanks in advance.

If the beneficiary is a legal resident in another country, cases can be transferred.  It is generally fairly easy as you notify NVC when the petition gets there of the consulate change, this happens quite often.  Just search changing or transferring consulates in the VJ search bar.

Good Luck!

Without a completed timeline it is difficult to answer, but I looked into this and concluded that there was no substantial time savings to be found in any country.  Japan was a couple of months faster, but factor in the high cost of relocating there and you're not saving much time at the expense of a LOT of money.  You can verify this by searching the approval times reported here.

Out of 63 cases, I'm seeing average total days for Kenya marital visa is 492 days which is NOT abnormally high (if anything, it seems a bit speedy!).  I would quadruple check this before relocating!

Pretty sure those waiting for interviews in Accra, would love to switch to Nairobi, but waiting together in the Bahamas sounds nice.
