DCF Request Tokyo -- Job Offer in USA

I recently received a Job offer in the US starting in August and requested DCF from the Tokyo embassy on using the form on their website here:

I sent the request Saturday morning, but as of now Tuesday night, have not received any notice from the Embassy.

How long does it usually take for the Embassy respond do this kind of request? Will the embassy contact me even if the request is denied?

It's been only a couple business days.  Hopefully, you will get a response soon.  Be aware-  Do NOT submit an I-130 to USCIS until you get a response from the consulate.

Yes I will not file anything until I get a response.

I was just worried because many threads here describe receiving a response within 24 hours. Furthermore I did not receive any confirmation receipt via email from the Embassy after submitting the forms.

In any case, I will email them at support-japan@usvisascheduling.com to confirm if they received it.

Here is a thread with someone that went through Tokyo with DCF, it might be helpful.  It sounds like you are just in the investigative phase, and it sounds like the consulate will not respond.  Look at the list @Seashell90 posted and provide that information (if you haven't already).

Got an email from the Embassy late afternoon Friday, they told me I have an I-130 appointment on July 12.

 

Does this mean my DCF petition has been accepted?

Did the notice tell you what to bring?  It looks like they are willing to accept the petition, or at least consider it.

They want me to bring all the documents I had sent them with my initial request and provided this list of additional documents to bring linked below:

From my current experience doing DCF in Mexico, they will decide if I-130 is approved or rejected on that day. If they decide your form is accepted, you will receive a follow-up e-mail with further instructions. I'm currently in the 2nd stage, doing form DS-260 and medical.

The checklist states that the Affidavit of Support I-864 form is "Optional in Tokyo but is required for visa issuance." Does that mean I don't need to submit it at this time?

That is worded weird, but it is still required.

Maybe not required for I-130 approval. In Ghana for DCF they didn’t ask for I-864 until interview either.

Submitted the I-130 to the embassy yesterday and after a bit of waiting they returned my original documents and told me it was approved. But I haven't received any confirmation email. Does this take more time? They provided a letter for my spouse with her case number, and said she would receive an email upon approval but neither of us have gotten anything.

 

EDIT: Also, as I has suspected the I-864 was optional at this time. My spouse will have to bring it for submission at her interview later.

Good to hear, and thanks for the update.  It should move fairly quickly from this point, but you will need to wait for the consulate to contact you with an interview date for your wife.

Got an email today saying the I-130 is officially approved.

 

Spouse needs to do get the police certificate and have a medical check before the Visa interview can be scheduled.

Any way to change the title of this thread?
