How to get Interview waiver for Visit Visa renewal for parents applying from Pakistan

Hi

 

My parents are applying to going to apply for renewal of their visit visa (they still have a few months visa left). I was wondering if someone can suggest how to get an interview waiver for them? does it ask in DS160 application before submitting it or is there any other process they would need to follow.

I don’t think it is going to be part of the DS-160 itself. It will be done somewhere in the ustraveldocs portal.

It’s not something you can request.   And I’m not sure any visa waivers would ever be done for certain countries.

They definitely waive at least some interviews in Pakistan.

visa wavers now but interview waivers are something they are offering in pakistan

They do know the process - as above, you don’t apply specifically for an interview waiver. You apply for the visa as normal, and then you’ll be told if you qualify for the interview waiver or not. 
 

I had an interview waiver last year for my NIV, I just applied and then had an email telling me my interview had been waived as I met the criteria.

I’m not sure you all are correct about how the interview waiver happens in Pakistan.
 

From the US embassy Pakistan site:

 

“start from ‘New Application’ on the scheduling dashboard, and follow the steps online for submitting through interview waiver.”

 

I think that there will be a place on the ustraveldocs site to indicate you would like to be considered for an interview waiver.

 

Hopefully someone who has applied to renew a B1/B2 visa in Pakistan will chime in.

Yes I read some where where it says if you have scheduled an appointment and want to apply for waiver cancel it and apply for waiver..was not sure If I read it correctly.

Yes this was my initial thought but there seems to be a different process in place for pakistan but I am not sure.

So these are instructions from another country, but they are both on usatraveldocs, so I assume the process is the same/similar.

 

Step 1

Complete the non-immigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) form; please see this link for the guidelines 

Step 2

Log in to our appointment system and create a profile. Once logged in, choose “Schedule Appointment”. As you go through the process you will answer the interview waiver questions which will evaluate your eligibility to renew your visa through interview waiver.

Step 3

After you answer the questions, you will be prompted to pay and enter the visa application (MRV) fee. Please see this link for more information on how to pay your MRV fee. If you are eligible to apply for a visa through interview waiver, you will be able to print out the “Interview Waiver Confirmation Letter”

Yes I read this as well. Unfortunately, this would seem to entail paying fees twice.

I believe step 2 makes more sense that you answer the waiver questions and then probably system will decide if you qualify for it or not before scheduling an appointment.

Yes, exactly. You apply as normal, same as everybody else - the system will decide if you qualify or not and tell you. 

 

If you weren't in the US when your parents last applied, you may find that's a factor, as now they have a relative in the US and may be less likely to be granted a visa.

They still have a valid visit visa and they are senior citizens. Reason looking waiver is that its kind of unnecessary travel for them for over 400 miles. in their last interview they only asked basic questions. nothing changed since then so lets see what happens.
