Case accepted - how long before extension letter is sent?

We sent our package last Thursday, and payment was taken today and application accepted. Hubby and I were shocked by how fast our case was accepted (and relieved that we didn’t make any errors), but we are aware that the rest of the process will probably be painfully slow lol. I have two questions though! 

 

1. How long does it take to get the extension letter? Does it come with the receipt, or after?

2. Our USCIS account already listed the receipt number, which begins with IOE. What does that mean? I’ve seen people speculating that it might mean a faster processing time, but I’m doubtful lol.

4-8 weeks after your packet was delivered to USCIS.

Extension letter, NOA1, notice of action, receipt is all the same names for the same document.

Pretty much all cases filed after some point in 2023 start with IOE. This means they're in electronic system. This is why you'd see documents in your USCIS account. Previous filers didn't have this luxury and had to always wait for letters to understand what's going on with their case. It doesn't necessarily mean your case will get processed faster.
