Traveling on extension letter

Hi all,

 

I applied for I751 with divorce waiver. Since I'm changing my last name back to my maiden name, I applied for the I751 with my maiden name. Are there any issues entering back into the US with my old married last name on my green card, and new last name on extension letter?

Ideally, the name change should have taken place at N-400 stage to simplify immigration process.

 

The biggest issue you will have is with airlines and authorities overseas.

I would bring a copy of the divorce decree or whatever other official document easily connects the dots between the married name on the GC and the maiden name on the extension letter.

Carry legal documents which will "connect the dots" between the names.  I agree with @OldUser and @JKLSemicolon.    Your biggest issue could be boarding an airline.
