Hello I am looking for advice on quickest option to bring Thai mother of my 12 year old American daughter to the US. Is it better to get married in Thailand or bring her on Fiancee Visa and marry in the US? I have been we have all been living together in Thailand for the past 13 years and we don't enjoy living in Thailand anymore. What is the quickest option to bring the mother of my daughter to the US? I am temporarily living in California but a Texas resident to not sure if either makes a difference as far as processing times, they are both probably slow choices. Also, is an Immigration Attorney in Thailand any help speeding up the process?

Thanks in advance!

Most people on this site will suggest the CR1 (spouse) visa. As it is cheaper than the K-1 visa.

But it entirely depends on your situation. Aspects of the K-1 might aline better with you situation.

I would suggest doing a lot of research on both options and go from there.

Hiring an immigration attorney won't make the process faster.

You don't necessarily need one if your situation is pretty straight forward.

Do you have Thai residency?

The quickest path could be DCF (direct consular filing) of I-130 petition. The embassy has discretion on accepting DCF cases. One typical reason where it is granted is a job offer with a short notice start date.

It is definitely something you should explore.

Thanks for the response. I will look into getting married in Thaialing and starting the process there. How has the process been for most Americans getting married? I have read there are docs that have to be notarized by the US Embassy that they are difficult in getting them to process them.

a lot of people have married through Utah Zoom marriage and successfully made it through immigration. It’s hassle free, all that’s needed is to be physically together at the time of the ceremony or meet after if you will be if different places before filing.
