Report of Marriage: A few questions and assumptions

Time to process my ROM at SF embassy in mid 2024 was about a month.  If you applied a couple of weeks ago just give them another 2-3 weeks and see if you get an approved ROM.

 

The big wait is after receiving that, it takes 6 months for the home office in Manila to process it before you can obtain any documents from Phillippine Statistical Authority.

I wouldn't bother asking for a status update for something that is processed within a month, it's only gonna slow them down to add that step.  One of the fastest parts of our entire process so far.

If you're in a rush if you include prepaid express mail or an extra fee they will return the documents to you faster which might shave a few days off.  But of course the 6 month wait is the same.

Understood, thanks. Do they ordinarily send an email acknowledging receipt? I didn't get anything.

No. They will not send a receipt email. They will send your docs back in the envelope you submitted for return with the receipt from the consulate. This is all you will receive unless they have questions.

If it is the San Francisco consulate 1 is sufficient. See my post from June 20th in this thread. I have a link to another that specifically covers the notary requirement. I was told only 1 notarized signatory is required.

Got it. What will I receive and how if they accept the registration? They called me to clarify some things two days ago (I had indicate we were both married, since we are - to each other! - apparently I was supposed to put single for her divorced for me. He corrected it, said he'd call me again of any other questions. Tonight, the return package is tracking. How do they notify that it is accepted? In that return package? Another letter? An email?

No, they will not email confirmation. Everything will be in the return packet. Mine had a printed receipt for the registration fee and a little cutout piece of paper about 4in by 1in paperclipped to the packet saying it was received and processing and you can reach out to PSA for a copy in 6 months.

 

You will find when dealing with these foreign agencies they work what is considered out of the norm for what we are used to. They work according to their own system and many times it is different from one agency or office to the next. Best to get out of the mindset that you will be notified of anything. Most times with Philippine agencies you have to reach out and inquire and then most times you are told "you will be notified when it arrives" and no other time.

Mine is the same. Will I get an email saying it has been transmitted to Manila? Or a letter?

No. As I said previously most Philippine agencies do not send you confirmation of anything. That piece of paper that says it is processing and to inquire with PSA in 6 months IS the confirmation. No other communication will be sent. You will have to reach out to PSA in 6 months.

But people on this site specifically talk about receiving such an email and using it as proof at CFO...

How did you get this email sent to you? Did you send someone at the Consulate an email and get a response? Others in this thread state no emails are sent at all, period. Can you please clear this up?

Hello @Jon and Krissy, replied your direct message.  Got the way using posts in 2022, to email the Americas desk - oca.crd-us@dfa.gov.ph requesting transmittal details.  Two days after, they replied to us that our ROM will be transmitted next month as they send them monthly, and to follow up next month if report have arrived.  So we followed up the next month, still not available (requested from PSA and none found).  So we used both the DFA/OCA email and PSA status(not found) for my husband's CFO.  It took the entire week (CFO interview was on a Monday), as the interviewer does not have power to approve.  Come Friday, we got the email for the CFO certificate.
