Received jury duty summons despite being a green card holder.

Was very surprised and worried to have received the jury duty summons despite being a green card holder going through removal of conditions. After doing some research on the internet looks like it's a common thing and seems like they use the data base of driver license and state ID holders and presumably that's how it happened? Planning to call the court and let them know of the mistake and do the online questionnaire and tick "not a citizen". Anything else that should be done or checked, anyone with personal experience? The state is Michigan,if there is any specific guidelines to state. Thank you

I received one too last year. Just sent a letter back with a photocopy of my GC and that was it; never got anything else again.

Did the court include a form or a process by which you can indicate your ineligibility?

If so, complete it and send it in, keeping a copy for yourself.

If not, call the court.  Get the name(s) of whom you've spoken with, and note the date and time.

I think I received three of them during the years I was a greencard holder, and have received one since becoming a citizen. It's super easy here in California, I just go online and fill out the questionnaire that decides if I'm eligible for jury duty or not. When answering "no" on the question about being a citizen, I was automatically disqualified and there was nothing else that needed to be done. Smooth and easy.

Why would you waste your time calling the court? Just follow online form and you will see there is a place to opt out with explanation. 

We did that and wrote "Not citizen yet" and done. 

It's a normal thing that they fish out for people. I think they get the data from DMV or MVA whatever you have in your state.

Did you have to provide the number on the greencard or anything or just picking "not a citizen" on the questionnaire was enough?

The "not a citizen" was enough here in New York.

I went to fill out the questionnaire and it asked to "return with documentation if not a citizen". So I called and checked with the court, they just asked my juror ID and said they'd take me off the list since I'm not eligible. And I didn't need to fill out the questionnaire.

I received several of these as a non-citizen, both, in New York and California. In California you simply fill out the online form, which disqualifies you. In New York it was more complicated, as the court wanted to see the proof that you're not a citizen. A copy of a current/recent visa was sufficient. Someone needs to tell the NY courts that visas don't evaporate from one's passport when they become a citizen.

I was able to go on their website and disqualify myself cause of not being a citizen at that time.just takes a minute to do that.

Only needed to fill out the questionnaire. Once done I received e message in the jury duty portal saying I was disqualified for jury duty. No they did not ask for proof of anything.

Yes, easiest thing here in California. Like you said, takes a minute (if that).
