He's from Nottinghamshire!

We just got our NOA2 last week so we don't have an NVC number yet and are not quite at the embassy. So just a smidge behind you! We have everything requested (police cert.) and are now just waiting until we can bug the NVC. :)

Oh really? I'm from Leicestershire so probably about 40 minutes away from him haha so it sounds like you are waiting for the approval instructions letter to be sent you. Is that right?

In this post and another one you mentioned using a law firm. I am intrigued as to why you did that. The paralegal you spoke to gave you incorrect advice.

We felt it would be easier to deal with a specialist law firm and that it would reduce stress while ensuring we were doing everything correctly. I mean we could have done it ourselves but we didn't want the additional stress from it. Our lawyer has been really good (no issues there - he has answered every question) but I have found the paralegal we are liaising with in terms of queries difficult and I thought in terms of the 6 month query that it was incorrect so I have emailed them back to see if they have misquoted by mistake as everything else online says date from medical so just waiting on their response and explanation regarding that.

Hi all,

Has anyone had their medical after their petition has expired at all?

I’ve seen a few people on here have their interview after the petition has expired but not the medical.

Would be interesting to see if anyone has done this.

Hope you can help!

Your medical is valid for 6 months. After that, I honestly do not know because you shouldn't let that happen. Your interview is a month after, so you should be fine. You just need to make sure you're in the US before the 6month period ends

Submitted i-129F: 12-4-23
Received/NOA1: 01-31-24
Approved/NOA2: 06-05-24

Medical Exam: 08-06-24
Interview: 09-13-24 APPROVED
Visa in hand: 09-23-24
Moving date: 11-02-24
Married: ? (End of Nov/start of Dec?)

Hoping to move: End of 2024 🧡

Hi Rachel,

Thank you for the response but I was aware of all that anyway - was more just a general query to see if anyone had this  experience that was all.

What experience are you specifically talking about? The validity of the I129F expiring before the interview or?

Can ask the consulate for extension if the petition is about to expire and can't complete medical or interview.

Many extensions were granted during Covid.

That's not necessary.  As long as you are still pursuing the visa, the Consulate extends the validity of your petition approval, automatically.   This is a non-issue.  Note the petition does not expire.  It's the approval that CAN expire.

Yep! I got the NOA2 in the mail nearly two weeks ago now, so just waiting for the NVC letter and then the embassy letter :)

That's good then! You should probably get that through in the next few weeks

Ahh yeah - I have only been to Wales twice I think. Cardiff and Tenby

Tenby is a good place to take visiting Americans to swim. Due to the enclosed harbour the water is often warm on a warm day. Perhaps I will retire there!

That is interesting. I did lots of research which saved on legal fees. One of the reasons I am moving to The United States rather than my fiancée coming here is that the American rules are so transparent and easy to follow.
