My fiance was just approved for his K-1 and will be arriving next week. I've read on other sites that people brought their medical results with them to help save money with the biometrics and all they had to do was have it translated onto the I-693 form. I'm trying to find out what exactly is the biometrics and if the info. I mentioned above true. The Nigerian Embassy is saying he can't have a copy and they will have to retest him for another $150.

I appreciate any :help:.

Biometrics means fingerprinting and a photo at a local USCIS office in the US. The USCIS assignes you a place and date for that.

As far as the I-693 is concerned.. Did you mean the transfer of your vaccination record onto form I-693A?? A USCIS-approved civil surgeon has to do that in the US. Submit that with your AOS application.

Have a good day.

For AOS after marriage every one does biometrics. Biometrics is just fingerprints and picture taken at you local USCIS office.

K-1 can travel to the USA with out first getting vaccinated, they can get vaccinated in the USA and then the record of vaccination is transfered to a supplement by a Civil Surgeon in the USA.

My Wife got the vaccinations done before leaving China, and we had the record giver to her in China transfered to the supplement in the USA.

If you have a record of vaccination, you just need to be firm with the civil surgeon that only a supplement is needed, or the doctor will insist on a full medical. The supplement cost us $35.

Thanks a lot! I thought biometrics meant he had to get a full medical exam again. So, he doesn't need his medical results, good. What happens if he didn't finish his vacci's? He has most of them, but there is another set that he doesn't get for 5 months.

As long as the required ones are started the Civil Surgeon should sign off on the supplement.

In most cases the required ones are MMR, Tetanus, and Varicella.

All you need is a copy of the Vaccination Worksheet from the K-1 medical exam. The information from the worksheet can be transferred onto the Vaccination Supplement by a Civil Surgeon in the U.S., which is required when you submit your AOS application after your marriage.

I don't know if they issue a copy of the Vaccination Worksheet in Nigeria, but they did for both myself and my daughter in Canada.

They put a copy of the worksheet in the sealed envelope, but you are not permitted to open that envelope.

Claudeth was given a DS3025 from the physical in Manila but we still did the civil surgeon thing to get her tetanus shot and the supplemental completed. They also wanted to do an xray so we gave them the one from her medical and saved another $35. I suggest when you are ready to do the AOS that you call around to the civil surgeons in your area, the pricing can vary by a large amount.

Here is the link for the civil surgeon locator:

Good luck

By the way, the biometrics are not related to the supplemental. Claudeth did biometrics for her EAD and the GC.

C. Medical Examinations

According to 8 CFR 245.5, aliens seeking to adjust status are required to undergo a medical examination performed by a designated civil surgeon to determine whether they are inadmissible under section 212(a)(1)(A) of the Act. To date, applicants for K nonimmigrant visas have been required to obtain a medical examination abroad pursuant to Department of State regulations at 22 CFR 41.81 prior to entry, and the medical examination is not repeated if they apply for adjustment of status within 1 year of the dat e the examination was performed. They are, however, required to submit with the adjustment of status application a vaccination assessment completed by a designated civil surgeon in order to establish their compliance with the vaccination requirements under section 212(a)(1)(A)(ii) of the Act.

The Service will continue this same policy for the K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants. K-3/K-4 nonimmigrants who file their adjustment of status application within 1 year from the date of the medical examination overseas will not have to submit an additional medical examination. However, the Service notes that applicants whose medical examinations overseas revealed a “Class A” or “Class B” condition (as defined by 42 CFR 34.2( B ) ) must establish upon application for adjustment of status that they complied with those cond itions imposed on the initial admission. Failure to comply with those conditions means that a new medical examination will be required.

Prices varie. I paid $22 for I-693A.
