Hi everyone,

I received the case number from NVC with some instructions. my fiancé is in Afghanistan where no US embassy is open so NVC said to request to transfer his case to any other country.

my question is for now for transferring process, does he need the visa of that country where his case is to be transferred or i can just submit the request form without visa? (for the request of transfer NVC didn't ask to have the visa of that country for now, just that he should be able to get it if his case gets transferred there)

and also from the info i have gathered it takes pretty long time to secure an interview date from Pakistan US embassy, so is it fine if i go ahead with doing the other paperwork like ds160 and get the interview date then he can get the visa to go there some weeks or days before the interview? i meant if its fine for now he remains in Afghanistan and then go to Pakistan when we get the interview date?

@SafaNaweed The US embassy in Pakistan is not responsible for how you get there.

Yes, the K1 beneficiary is responsible for any travel visa, which for your case is a procedure between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The fees and procedures for the US embassy are the DS-160 and the UStraveldocs

And don't forget to allocate time for the medicals.

You can maybe follow the Pakistan forums to see if they may be of help?

Unfortunately, there are not many cases like your's and contacting an immigration attorney may help?

@EatBulagahi, thanks a lot for replying. i understand the Pakistan embassy is not responsible for those things.

my question was if someone is transferring their case to a third country do they have to go that country while their case is being transferred and they gather and fill out their paperwork that needs to be done or they can just stay in their own country and go to the third country when they have their interview scheduled? like basically go to the third country for their medicals and interview?

@SafaNaweed when we did the K1 in the 3rd country, the K1 beneficiary was already in the 3rd country working and completed the consulate requirements by taking time off from work.

Theoretically, the beneficiary can wait at their home country till the consulate notify with the "packet 3" to start the consulate process like paying the MRV fee, medical, interview, etc.
