Stuck Waiting for Interview Date

Hello all,

I am sharing here in hopes someone might have some advice for us. I feel so desperate for this to end, and I don't know what to do.

My husband and I are stuck waiting for his CR-1 visa interview with no response from the embassy. We were DQ'd by the NVC 3 months ago after being granted an expedite on our I-130 because of some unexpectedly terrible and difficult events our family is going through. We did not initially try to request an expedite for his interview because everyone who has recently posted in the same consulate forum of this site has said that they received their interview date around the 6 week mark after being DQ'd. After waiting 9 weeks with no word, however, we requested an expedite. It was also granted, and we reached out to the consulate office to see if he could complete the medical exam while we wait for an interview date. They replied within a day or two and said that he could not schedule his medical exam until we had an interview date. They also asked for him to email again the following week because his case hadn't arrived to the consulate yet from the NVC (since the consulate office schedules expedited interviews). That night, we received an email that the case had finally arrived. We still waited out of respect, however, to email the following week as they requested. That was weeks ago. He sent a follow-up email after several days, and I also sent an email a week after that, and no one has even reached out or responded at all. We have been excessively gracious and polite in our emails, letting them know how much we value and respect their work and kindly requesting an update. I am getting more sick over this as each day passes. We found a phone number for the office, but it is just an automated menu that essentially tells you to go on the website for information. I feel so powerless in our situation and I don't know what else I can do. We have waited months for this interview, and now it feels like we're being ghosted by the one office that can help us. I constantly question if I should have even requested an expedite because maybe the NVC would have scheduled us by now. If anyone has any advice, or has gone through a similar experience, please feel free to share. I need as much encouragement as I can get right now.

I would contact my Senator's office and ask for an official status update.  Other than that, I see nothing you can do.  The consulate has your case.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Which consulate? And just checking, but you are a US citizen, not a LPR?

Cr1 visa is for USCs

Yes, as said just double checking - sometimes people have no idea it's a different name for spouse of a LPR, and that could explain the delay if so.

Yes, I am a U.S. citizen. We are working with the consulate in Madrid, Spain. They have still not responded to any emails 😕
