Morning!

we are leaving on the 13th June and I have two burning questions.

one, I am flying to the USA through Iceland. So that huge package with the visa stuff is to be given at Heathrow, or in Iceland when I am flying to the USA?

second question, I had 40 boxes of my own belongings sent through Sherpr who then uses Fed ex. Due to lack of space in the van, when collecting boxes, they collected 20 one day and 20 the day after.

the first twenty boxes are delivered, but the second lot arrived and got stuck at the final city of my boyfriend, and all we know after hundreds of calls, emails etc is that they are delayed, stuck at clearance, but we don’t know why.

when I tried to call Fed ex at their number it days I don’t have permission to access that number. I am not registered with them.

mh delivery people, Sherpr, have been unable to find out why the goods are not moving.

i think it’s because the master box which has the complete list of all 40 boxes has been delivered the day before. So now they are looking for the master box of the other 20 but of course it doesn’t exist.

i resent the list just for the second lot, to my delivery people and to Fed ex, and I heard nothing

is there any way of going to the Laramie Wyoming depot which is in a secret location and just tell them what is going on? It’s easier to get on a call with the Prince!

getting frustrated …..

thanks

I can answer the first question about the visa packet.

The answer to your question is neither, not at Heathrow or at Iceland. The envelope you're holding (that you shouldn't open under any circumstances) is for the CBP officer at your point of entry in the United States. You'll have to hand it over when you're at immigration at your arrival airport.

Reading is what? Fun-da-men-tal!

I got mine a few days ago. There is a label on the front of mine with the following message:

"To be opened by the United States Immigration or Public Health Service Officer. This sealed package must be surrendered to the United States Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry in the United States. Do not pack it - it must be hand carried."

fed ex should have labeled 2nd delivery as 20 of 40 per other shipment

and u should have a fed ex tracking number on the receipt (best way to track the 2nd shipment)

they have to provide this when picking up a package

i would suspect the shipment is at airport receiving waiting for all to go thru xray and CBP inspection

You can go to any fed ex office (when in US)  with the tracking number and ask them to look it up but can be looked up on computer

the labels were supplied by Sherpr. They decided to change one big order into two. So the numbering restarts from 1. The 20 boxes that are in clearance are in Laramie which is my boyfriend's town. I have the tracking number only tells me what I just said and nothing else.

Not really, as twenty boxes have been cleared a week ago and delivered to my new address….

... I read that.

I also read that some boxes are not being cleared, and I gave you a good reason why they might not be.  Not because the first lot was cleared mistakenly, that the second will be.  Best of luck.

Thread is moved from the K-1 Process forum to the "Moving to the U.S." forum -- topic chiefly relates to shipment of personal effects.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
