Not approved on the spot at the interview?

Hi everyone! 

 

We're in the UK and requested DCF from the embassy in London a few months ago and it was approved. After the i-130 got approved, I attended my medical exam and submitted my DS-260 a few days before my interview. 

 

I had my interview a few days ago and I was told that everything looks good and they'll just need to run one more check. I asked if there's any additional documents I'd need to submit and they said no as they have everything they need.

 

Does anyone know what could be the additional check they need to run? Also, is it normal for my CEAC status to remain "Ready" and not be updated since my interview? Would it be because I submitted my DS-260 a few days before my interview?

The State Department runs background checks.  In a normal (non-DCF) process, both USCIS and the State Department always run background checks. This is normal.  Hopefully, "issued" will be the status soon.

Did everything turn out well with your DCF? We have the same situation - almost 2 weeks since final interview. Consulate has my wife’s passport and visa status remains “ready for interview”.

Yes everything turned out well for us!

 

I just checked my timeline, and it took about 6 days for my status to change from "ready" to "AP", and then the following day it changed to "approved" and then "issued" the same day. It took an additional day to ship and another to be delivered, but it could take longer depending on where you live in the UK.

 

I wouldn't worry much about it just because it's still on "ready for interview". I believe I read somewhere that USCIS doesn't show "processing" anymore for some reason. It just goes directly from "ready" to "AP".

 

Also, once your wife gets her visa and pays the USCIS fee, make sure to save the IOE number as you'll be able to use it to track her GC online

Thanks! We have filed in Tbilisi, not in the UK. This is our third week after the interview listed as “ready”  

 

the officer in the interview told my wife “it won’t be long”, but who knows what that means in government terms!
