After waiting for 3 years for an approval for aos,  I was finally approved and uscis sent an approval notice, after I  received the approval notice, after a couple of weeks they updated the status to mail returned because the post office  could not be deliver it.  I want to assume it was a copy sent to my previous attorney who has since then closed his office and moved to another location.  Now am waiting for 485 update and am worried about the returned mail even though i have the copy of the approved 130.  How should I go about this?  Can delete my previous attorney's address and how to avoid such occurrence in the future?  Please help!!!!

I don't believe so.  The new attorney only filed for renewal of work authorization.

If no G-28 was sent to USCIS, then your attorney does not represent you. They cannot represent you legally if they don't send G-28.

And this explains why you missed the mail.

Why didn't new attorney take over the case? Is he / she a real lawyer or a notario?

The new attorney is a real lawyer.  I had approached them about  renewal of the work authorization.  They had not fully committed to taking over the case, rather we had not discussed the way forward in regards to 130 and 485.

For the approval letter we received our copy, so was confused which mail had been returned to uscis, I want to assume from the previous attorney which is still confusing since they had moved offices for a while.

How would I find out which mail was returned?  Where can I delete the previous attorney's information from my account?

You need to instruct USCIS by filing G-28 that old lawyer no longer represents you. You will be representing yourself and all paperwork should go to you.

Normally lawyers take over the case. I see no value in using a lawyer just to file a I-765. That's easily done with DIY approach. The value is lawyer representing your I-130 and I-485. But that's just me...
