Dina will be moving to new address

Aloha, 

 

We received our NOA1 May 14th.. We just received a new approval estimate of August 23rd. Dina will be moving in the next few weeks and the address on the I-129F will no longer be valid. What problems will that cause - if any?

It won't cause any problems at all.  Just update her new address when it's time for her to fill the DS-160.

It shouldn't cause but after updating address, you might want to follow up with USCIS to make sure address WAS actually updated in their system. They are not very good about that.

But won't things be sent to her before the DS-160 comes into play? I'm not knowledgeable about the timing of this stuff.

Currently you are at the USCIS stage: you can update addresses on your account dashboard.

I as petitioner moved literally days before our NOA2 was sent out, and it got to the right address.  This is more important for the petitioner than the beneficiary, since USCIS doesn't send anything physical to the beneficiary. 

You can amend the address change of a beneficiary when you file the DS-160 through the NVC stage, post NOA2.

I was reading a very old post (2008 I think), and they we're discussing a K1 case being "touched". I read this to mean as something as trivial as it being moved from one bin to another - or it could indicate something more significant. Are "touches" still a thing and it so, how do we know if we been "touched"?

You don't have to.  Nothing is sent to the beneficiary from USCIS.

Nothing will be sent to her at all until after the interview, when they send her passport back.  For that delivery, you will either give the delivery address or choose from a fixed list of pick-up locations when you schedule the interview.  The embassy *might* send her a welcome letter and pamphlet, but it probably won't arrive before she is already out of the country.  As was mentioned before, just put her new address on the DS-160 when you fill it out.

 

Don't worry about updating her address until you fill out the DS-160.  You'll be fine.

From the VJ K1 flowchart. Items 7 and 8 sound like stuff will be sent to Dina. This is where my concern lies.

You have submitted the I-129F, which is the petition for the K1 visa

Your case is at USCIS.

 

The above chart is for when your petition is approved and sent to NVC.

This is extremely useful, great to have a resource who knows the Manila procedures, since embassies are so particular.

Item 7 is the letter that may or may not ever arrive that I mentioned above.

Item 8 will not happen in the Philippines.

Neither of these are required to complete the process in the Philippines.

The only thing you need to complete the process is your MNL case number, which will be assigned at NVC after your I-129f petition is approved.

Not entirely true. NVC will send paper copy of K1-FTP letter to address of beneficiary on I-129F form. It is not really needed for anything though and can be easily and faster printed by beneficiary from the NVC e-mail.

We never got this by physical mail, only email.
