Affidavit of support, evidence petitioner needs to show? London embassy. (Merged threads)

Hi, any knowledge would be appreciated. We are filling in the affidavit of support with my partner agreeing to financially support me (the beneficiary). I am confused with filling in the below part. For income I will just write $0 as I am leaving my job and will not be working there? And for Asset's for anyone who has filled it in, do we just put our checking account balance for example ? And then attach anything to show the money is there or there or does it not really matter very much?

The I-134 is a form applicable to many visa types.  For the K1, it is only the petitioner's income and assets that are valid.  You will be fine placing everything as 0 or N/A for the beneficiary.  Just work on evidence for the petitioner.

Ok great so I don't have to worry about putting my checking balance on their? We should just focus on putting all of my partners details on there as my sponsor?

Hi,

 

Trying to figure out what evidence my fiancee (the petitioner) needs to show with the affidavit of support? Does she just need to attach her most recent yearly tax returns and upload her bank statement to assets owned as well? This is for the London Embassy as well 

 

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you

Ah thank you! And I'm correct in thinking she will only need to show one of those as supporting evidence to the London Embassy? So just the tax returns will suffice?

Tax returns do not prove current income.  Read the instructions..."Supporting Evidence"

...I did and it says to show tax returns which would show how much tax shes paid. I read the UK embassy only requires one of the supporting documents.

 

Most of her income comes from tips which would now show on her salary, so the tax returns show more of her actual income

You seemed to have missed the following:

 

 

Unless the London embassy has directly specified to you in writing that they only require one of the various supporting docs, it wouldn't be wise of you to attend your interview with only tax returns.

Tax return would show LAST year's income....not what she expects to earn over the next year after new immigrant arrives.  Current and expected income is king...not past income.

I was at the London embassy a few weeks ago. How much money do you have in your bank account? Is it more than 100% of the federal poverty level for what will be your household size?  

 

My fiancée is disabled, but her income is just above 100% of the federal poverty level. The I-134 was evidenced with social security letters (instead of an employer letter and payslips) and bank statements.

 

I also got a financial co-sponsor, a close family relative who is retired. She provided bank statements and three years of tax returns. If there is any doubt as to your fiancée's income over the next twelve months perhaps you could get a financial co-sponsor?

 

Several people have said here that the London embassy has a reputation for being rather lax in terms of evidence requirements. Things get a bit tougher when you apply for permanent residency. Have you thought ahead to that and how you will pay for health care?

Hey, I've spoken to a few people who have just been through the process in London embassy and they said all that they took was last year's tax return. So I'll take that along with my partners balance information too just in case. But all I have spoken to have said I should be fine with just tax returns at the London embassy, apparently they are more relaxed. Thank you though
