Just got back from my interview. I passed and they gave me an oath ceremony tomorrow morning! So glad this will all be over tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else still waiting or preparing for the interview! 

They also approved my I-751 after the interview, but didn't really ask us many questions as a couple.

I had my interview today (10/22) at the Nashville, TN office. I passed! The immigration officer was working from home, so it was a virtual interview in her office. It all went smoothly, and was approved on the spot!

I am pleased to inform you that I successfully completed my naturalization interview and oath ceremony today at the San Francisco Office. Although my I-751 petition was approved weeks ago without an interview, I was not asked to provide any additional proof of our marriage during the naturalization process.

 

Despite a slight delay of 20 minutes beyond my scheduled time, I am grateful that the officers were able to accommodate me in the same-day oath ceremony. I am filled with joy and pride as I officially become an American citizen today. 🇺🇸

Thank you, and Congratulations!!! 🎉 And yes, I came with my spouse because I filed under the 3 year rule. We checked-in with the lady at the front desk 30mins early, she confirmed I was with my spouse. Asked for my green card and appointment letter, took my photo, and my fingerprints.

 

After a few minutes, I was called (my spouse had to wait at the waiting room because my i-751 was approved a month before my interview was scheduled) and she led me into another door, down a hallway with more rooms.

 

The lady told me “Your immigration officer is working from home, I will lead you into her office and you’ll be talking to her through a screen.” She left soon after I went into the room.

 

The immigration officer introduced herself and I was asked to come forward to show my green card on the camera. She was super nice! ☺️ She told me to take a seat and asked for my: full name, date of birth, any other names I previously used. Then proceeded with the history & government test, followed by the reading and writing test. Since it was “virtual”, I had to do the reading and writing part on a tablet. Afterwards, she asked the usual yes or no questions. It was all pretty quick! ☺️

 

She told me I passed everything and that she approved my application. She also told me that she was putting me in line for oath taking, and that I would get my schedule in the mail within a month. I checked my USCIS account after we left, it now says: 

 

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number ###, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice.

Happy Wednesday 

I had my interview this morning in Denver 
The interview was scheduled at 10:15am and I was called around 10:20am

By 10:40 the officer asked me if I wanted same day oath or wait for the notice. 

Of course I chose same day oath and the next ceremony was at 11am and by 11:20 I was a US citizen.

It took me a while to remember all the questions I was asked :
1. When must all men register for the Selected Service?

2. Who is the Governor of your State?

3. What does the President's cabinet do?

4. What stops one branch of government from becoming too powerful?

5. In what month do we vote for President

6. What is the name of the Vice President of the United States now?

 

My reading was:
A lot of people want to become US citizen. (or something close to it)

 

And my writing was:
Alaska is the largest State. 
and the tablet didn't help it to look pretty 

 

I was surprised that Denver did same day oath but I guess because of the elections they did. Overall a very very quick interview 
Now I need to apply for that passport and then I am done

Quick question - do you think the estimated time for decision on USCIS page (when I log in and check my n-400 status) correlates to when you may hear from local USCIS offices? What has been your experience? 

 

I filed in June 2024 and the status so far has been your case is being actively reviewed. A month ago I noticed that my decision time reduced from 5 months to 2 months. Now I checked and it says 31 days.

 

Any thoughts or tips from your experience would be appreciated.

The estimated time is totally random number. People get naturalized while their estimate says 2 months to decision. Somebody got "your case is taking longer" 9 days after submitting application. It's not something I'd personally pay attention to.
