Just got an interview notice too, filed on June 17th , Seattle,  5 year filer

Interview is scheduled for September 11th.

Congrats. I filed on June 29th under the 3 year rule - also Seattle. Hope they take a couple more weeks (never thought I would say this) since I will be out of the country mid September for 11 days.

Good luck!

Does it take longer when you file under 3 year rule vs 5 year rule (I already have my I-751 and I filed after I had been here for more than three years)?

Hi everyone,

Planning to file N-400 online soon. Originally received GC 8 years ago based on marriage to USC.

1. Shall I just apply under General 5 year category or 3 year marriage category? what are the pros and cons?

2. If I go by 5 year rule, I can only find last 4 years tax transcript online IRS. How do I get one for the last 5th year? Will any other IRS doc or tax return work for the 5th year?

3. At the end of online N-400, what docs you submitted in EVIDENCE for 5 year category?

Thanks in advance.

I had my GC since 2015 due to marriage to USC. I filed under general provision since it does not require a lot of supporting documents. I wasn't even prompted to provide tax transcripts but they might want me to bring it to the interview though. It seems general provision is less complicated due to less docs to provide.

No update on the N-400 for me yet, however I did get an update on my I-751 petition which hadn't seen any movement since filing in Jul 2022. On Aug 6th I got the notification that a "New Card is Being Produced".

So happy for everyone getting their interview dates for the N-400 application, crossing my fingers it happens for me too soon!

No update on the N-400 yet too. But I’m hoping I get an update on the i-751 (filed Sept 2022) soon.

I see that 5 years is quite faster in processing, and the field office also applies. What a weekend gift :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Unfortunately they want me to bring my passport to the interview, for documentation of entry into the US. That passport is expired & at the consulate. They send it back with the new one. Now USCIS want it although they have access to the data via their system. I only traveled 2x in 9 years. 🤷‍♀️ Geez, I applied for new passport in February. Now I start getting nervous.

I had to get a new passport last year and it took so long and was costly.
I hope you get it before your interview.
Maybe printing out your I-94 just in case will give you some peace of mind

What I don't get is, why they want to see my old expired passport. They have access to the data. And what if I'd say to the consulate that they can shred it after the arrival of my new one? I told them to send it back to me only out of nostalgic reason. 🤷‍♀️
