Changing the embassy from Frankfurt, Germany to Zagreb, Croatia

Hi,

I’m new here and everything I’ve found was really helpful.

I have only one question if somebody has experience with it. On our K1 petition we stated that everything should go thru embassy in Frankfurt, Germany considering I’m doing my Master here. I’m almost done and want to go back to Croatia and wait for an interview there because obviously I thought it’s not going to take so long for visa to be approved.

Has anybody experience in changing the embassy. My fiancé cold NVC and they said it is hard to change that.

I can also do medical and interview in Frankfurt because my sister is there and plain ticket to DC is cheaper from Frankfurt :D

I’m not only sure if is more complicated considering I don’t have any reason to be in Germany any more (except as a tourist).

I appreciate any advice or experience shared

What is stopping you from going back to Croatia to wait out the process? I imagine that your Frankfurt address is your sisters, so she'll notify you of the interview date and you can come a couple days earlier, get the medical done & interview. Having the NVC change what embassy your case is going to is quite complicated and may delay your case.

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing, especially when my mom send me a postcard from the coast :)

I hate German weather! And I can see all my friends again. I haven’t seen them since June. I’m going to have to get use to the fact that once when I’m in the States it is not going to take one hour flight to Zagreb but everything for love!

My honey left two days ago to DC and since we were never apart all I do is crying. He spoiled me, but when I see what other people have to put up with I feel a little bit better.

nivesito,

My best advice would be to leave the consulate the same (Frankfurt) and just visit your friends. Make sure you have/order the things you'll need for the interview that takes time to get; Police Certificate, etc. so you don't have to scramble at the last minute. Take advantage of your trip back - good time to get any hard to get documents you might need in the future.

Vielen Dank!

Actually, I got all the papers already in June (really optimistic) . It took me actually one day in Zagreb to get them all (talking about efficiency).

I think I’ll need to get my vaccination pass and take the missing shots (I know I don’t have Td) but I need to check the rest.

I remembered something else. I know I don’t need that for an interview but do I have to obtain proof that I’ve never been married before in order to be able to get married in the states. It seems to me like a thing they would ask for?

Uf, I have constant feeling that I’m going to forget something that may be important.

I don't think you need a proof to prove that u have never been married before. But if it comes to that, u can always show your "ANMELDUNG" where it says if you are single / married / widow :)
