06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I just can't - the audacity. I liked the judge - very down to earth, not taking it from the public defender - 3-4 weeks adjournment, for what, so he can drive some more around? In to the prison you go...

I watched half of that and it got tedious.

 

The way I would think most people know if they have a valid license is by looking in their wallet/purse whatever.

 

He had his suspended 12 ish years ago and did nothing, now I do not know how long they issue DLs for, my first one was until I reached 65, but am pretty sure it would have expired by now.

I've watched quite a few of that Judge's cases.  He doesn't play around.

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I would guess the guy has been driving without any reservations since 2010.  In addition, if this was a big mistake, why didn't he get this taken care of when he got the ticket?  He could have gotten the records corrected the.

Yes, I have heard quite a few folks say this guy was wronged by the system.  I will admit the system in Michigan is far from perfect, but lack of knowledge on his part does not alleviate his responsibilities.  He drove for 12 years on a suspended license, then finally took care of the issue that caused the suspension (we can debate suspending a driver's license for not paying child support, but I guess they were trying the carrot and stick approach), but it is his responsibility to get his license re-instated by going to the SoS in MI and show them the evidence he can now receive a valid DL.  He missed two-three renewals in 12 years, they will need a new picture, etc. to get him a valid license, but apparently he thought they would just send one to him.

 

I still say this is on him, and hopefully this little viral incident educated him a bit.
