Hi my smart Visa Journey friends,  My husband and I are both US citizens and recently learned that my husband originally from (Uganda) has a 12 year old.  We learned about his birth and have confirmed with a DNA test of his son a year after his US Citizenship was finalized, so he has not been mentioned in any of our previous USCIS paperwork.  We are currently working on filing out the I-130 in hopes of bringing him to the US to live with us and are not sure best how to address this issue.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Pay attention to instructions for I-130 for children. They'll want to see proof of contact and relationship.

Has he been supporting the child?

Immigration will want the DNA tests done by 1 of the sites they list

and want to see u supporting the child

u should provide proof of how u found out about this child in your cover letter to better explain why u didn't know about the 5 year old when applying for the K1 in 2017

I do not see a problem with your situation. Your husband did not know about his child, all he has to do is document with the DNA he took and explain just as you did here.

This will be important as well.  Now that he knows about the child, how is he supporting the child.

Due to concerns about fraud, I think there will be more to this process-  even if it’s just a repeat of DNA at a consulate-approved lab.

I think it was more in reference to the child not being mentioned on any previous USCIS filings.  Can't mention what you don't know until you know it.

Oh yes I'm sure they will repeat the DBA. I was talking about just finding out about his child.
