Will it be a problem how long it's been since I filed the petition?

Hi all, I filed the petition in 2019 for my wife's IR-1 and ran into some problems so I had to wait a few years before things came together for me to finish it. So for about 5 years it's been at the NVC stage until now. I am almost ready to submit everything, just a few final documents to upload. Anyways I'm just wanting to know if the delay in completing the paperwork will cause any unforeseen problems going forward? Thank you so much!

Have you been keeping in touch with them, yes it is unusual.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

If you are being allowed to continue the NVC stage buy submitting documents, then just continue.  Expect your spouse to have a clear and understandable explanation for the delay.  By reasonable and clear, I mean one that will not call the bona fides of your relationship in to shart question.

Thank you. Yes good advice, I will ensure that she has the reason if the consular officer asks.
